Interview marks are very important for RBI Gr B selection. How to prepare ? What may be the questions ? One important qn will be on NPAs. Why NPAs, particularly of PSU banks are very high ? One answer is : PSU banks have lent heavily to Infrastructure. Many infrastructure projects are in trouble due to a variety of reasons such as land acquisition . Further, recently, ICICI Bank Chairman has told in the interview that ICICI Bank has not given loans to any gas based power project (ICICI Bank had lent to Dabhol but that was several years back ). The students have to study whether PSU banks have given loans to gas based power projects and if so, why ? In the case of Kingfisher group, what was the approach of private sector banks vis a vis PSU banks : students should study this also.. Another important question will be on inflation. We will discuss this within 2/3 days.

In view of several candidates joining our class in Feb and March 2013 , the class is overflowing. In order to streamline the admission, it has been decided to have batch wise admission from May 2013 for both the morning session and afternoon session (date to be decided depending on the forthcoming advt of SBI ASSOCIATES P.O. and RBI Grade B and RBI Assistants) . It is proposed to admit only 100 students in the morning batch and 100 students in the afternoon batch on first come first served basis . Morning Class from 6.30 am to 8 am on all 5 weekdays (Monday to Friday). Afternoon batch from 2.30 to 4 pm on all 5 weekdays. V.ANJUGAM THIRUKUMARAN, ONE OF OUR STUDENTS ,DESPITE GETTING 172 MARKS IN IBPS P.O.(WHICH IS AN EXCELLENT MARK) MADE THE mistake of joining Indian Bank as P.O. this month (some people have misguided her and she did not check with me as she is in vellore). Now training is going on in Raja Annamalaipuram, Chennai training centre and Indian Bank has given her Tirupathur posting ( 2 1/2 hours journey from Vellore)when she expected Vellore , as she is married. Had Indian Bank given the postings before joining the Bank, she would not have joined. Now ,she is so upset that she is thinking of resigning but Bond amount is an obstacle. Of course, students have given it in writing that they are willing to serve anywhere. But Human Resources issue is such that the employee performance will suffer unless he or she is happy. What Indian Bank gains by not telling the postings before hand. ? Nothing. On the contrary,they lose.They will have demotivated employees and no wonder India's rank in financial inclusion (50 th rank) is below Morocco etc. This is how many PSU Banks function.

SUPRIYA joined FEDERAL BANK ANNA SALAI CHENNAI AS OFFICER MM II DIRECT .ONE GRADE ABOVE PROBATIONARY OFFICER .Both Federal bank & South Indian Bank give the actual postings well before joining the bank unlike PSU Banks who give the postings only after the candidate joins the Bank. My humble opinion is - What Federal bank & South Indian Bank are doing is the correct practice .

There is a good news in today's Mint Newspaper page 4- Common interview likely for posts in state-run banks. Now, what is happening is that, the same top rankers are getting selected in all banks as a result of which ,if there are 10,000 officer vacancies in PSU Banks, only around 5000 vacancies (i think) get filled up despite releasing second waiting list, third waiting list etc. In the proposed new system, one candidate can select only one bank (as per merit list). If that happens, that will be the best system for everyone, as, now, banks also are suffering, as all the vacancies are not getting filled up.

SBI in News SBI hiring Telegraph Wednesday, June 27, 2012 Bhopal, June 26: The SBI will recruit about 10,500 employees in this fiscal. This year, the bank will make 9,500 clerical level appointments and nearly 1,000 probationary officers will be inducted, SBI chairman Pratip Chaudhuri said.

29 OUT OF 35 REPORTED TODAY..TO MY KNOWLEDGE 4 OUT OF 9 FROM OUR CLASS REPORTED TODAY..NINTH SELECTION IS JAYABALAN, OMITTED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE SELECTION LIST. 2 WEEKS TRAINING IN BOB ALWARPET TRAINING CENTRE ,FOLLOWED BY 6 MONTHS TRAINING IN 3 BRANCHES

In each and every bank , only the top scorers in IBPS exam are getting selected and same is the case in our class also. Though 70 Probationary Officers should have joined UCO Bank training centre, Chennai, yesterday, only 11 joined. .From our class only Jeromine joined (only one out of 6). Most of them are joining Bank of India or State Bank of India associates and a few are joining BOB. In Corporation Bank also, only 124 joined the training centre ,last month, instead of 350.(from our class , 2 joined out of 4). On the one hand, the bank suffers because they do not get the required number of probationary officers and on the other hand, those who have scored below the top scorers are suffering. IBPS can think of allotting one bank a peson (similar to the practice that was in vogue in 1985 ,1990 etc.where BSRB will allot the candidates, a bank). Something should be done by IBPS, regarding this, as everyone except the top scorers are suffering.

My student, Harsha Atluri, who is a Gold Medallist from Amrita, Coimbatore, who joined SBH, Mylapore as P.O.in 2010,resigned and joined SBI Hyderabad Circle as Probationary Officer in 2011, today (31 May 2012) reported to SBI,CAG branch, Hyderabad. There are only 6 CAG branches in India and they are very very special branches. He along with 3/4 other P.Os have been selected and posted there.and just now, I came to know ( 8 pm) that our student, Martina is reporting to CAG, Chennai tomorrow (01 June 2012). She is also a very brilliant student. Harsha's record score in my class test in English was broken by Martina.

Today ,V.ANJUGAM THIRUKUMARAN, one of my old students, who is in Allahabad Bank, Vellore branch, in the clerical cadre , called me and told me that she has been selected in Associate Banks of State Bank of India and that her roll number is 3701201627. Her IBPS score is 172. She could not attend any interview due to family issues. She attended Indian Bank interview yesterday, despite not having NOC. She could not attend IOB interview today as Allahabad Bank do not provide NOC during probation period.

Many students are asking me this question . In my opinion ,Bank of India and Bank of Baroda are the best. BOI Management care for their employees . Allahabad Bank also is good. South based banks (except Kerala based private banks such as Federal Bank - I am not from Kerala) should be avoided. Please see my write up in miscellaneous section.

Bank of India is a Mumbai based Bank. Its a good bank and the bank cares about the happiness of the employees. In RBI Grade B, Phase II exam, there is a paper on Management . One of the Management topics is employee motivation. A motivated employee is an asset to any organisation and will give his/her best to the organisation. A dissatisfied employee is a liability to any organisation. Any bank should try its level best to make the employees happy by trying to give them the posting employee wants. That is motivation. That way, Bank of India, is the best.

It appears that her mark is the first mark.(If anyone has scored more than her, kindly sms/email me and I will put the details - roll number and date of birth - in my website). But Harine did not join SBI, as she is very happy in an IT company and is afraid of the postings of POs by SBI. Who is the loser ? Certainly SBI and the country but not Harine.
